The stand keeps the razor upright and drying; the bank takes the spent blades. Choose chrome, weighted and knurled, or bamboo, warm and natural in the hand. No plastic in either.
Load a blade, then short strokes and light pressure. Most people are comfortable by the third shave, and refills cost around ten pence a shave from there.
