Frequent Questions
Where can I buy replacement double-edge razor blades?
Direct from Kronos, shipped from the UK, or anywhere that sells standard double-edge blades. Ours are a standard double-edge fit rather than proprietary, so they work in any safety razor.
Do I have to use Kronos blades in a Kronos razor?
No. A Kronos razor takes any standard double-edge blade, and Kronos blades fit any double-edge razor.
How many shaves does one blade give?
Five to seven, depending on your hair. Each side cuts independently, so one blade goes about twice as far as you'd expect. Change it the moment the pull creeps in.
How do I dispose of used razor blades safely?
Into a blade bank, a small tin that takes each spent blade through a slot and holds it until the tin is full. Kronos blades carry no PTFE coating, so a full bank goes in with metal recycling.
Will the blades nick me?
Not with the right technique. The blade's corners, the part that nicks, sit enclosed behind the guard, so only the safe edge meets skin, and the 13N edge is keen enough to cut cleanly without pressure, which is what spares the skin.
Are the blades coated?
Platinum-sputtered, with no PTFE, on Swedish Cr13 steel. Leaving the PTFE out means a spent blade can go in with metal recycling.
30 DE Blades: How long does a pack of thirty blades last?
Around 150 to 210 shaves. Thirty blades, each good for five to seven shaves with both sides cutting independently.
20 DE Blades: How long does a pack of twenty blades last?
Around 100 to 140 shaves. Twenty blades, each good for five to seven shaves with both sides cutting independently.
50 DE Blades: How long does a pack of fifty blades last?
Around 250 to 350 shaves. Fifty blades, each good for five to seven shaves with both sides cutting independently.
Why does a single blade help with razor bumps when a multi-blade cartridge doesn't?
Because a single blade cuts the hair level with the surface. A multi-blade cartridge lifts the hair and cuts it below the skin, where it grows back trapped and inflamed; one clean pass leaves nothing under the surface to bump.
This is a pack of fifty double edge razor blades in Swedish Cr13 steel, coated with platinum instead of PTFE, and ground to a thirteen newton edge: keen enough to cut cleanly, gentle enough for skin that reacts easily. One blade cuts level with the skin, never below it.
A 13N edge cuts cleanly at the surface instead of tugging. A single blade cutting level with the skin is the mechanism behind fewer bumps and fewer ingrown hairs; a multi-blade cartridge cuts below the skin, which is where both start. Cr13 steel holds its edge well, and a platinum-sputtered coating keeps the blade smooth against skin without relying on PTFE, which some sensitive skin reacts to.
These are the same safety razor blades that fit the Kronos Safety Razor, and a spent one belongs in the Blade Bank, since a used blade is still sharp enough to cut through a bin liner. Nothing about this pack is decorative; the refinement is spent on the edge itself.
A blade costs around fifty pence to replace. A standard double edge blade fits any safety razor built to the same long-established dimensions, the Kronos razor included, so this pack works across brands.
